There have been some very uncomfortable realities which have been exposed in the political world after Hollywood mogul Harvey Weinstein was accused of rape. From John Conyers to Al Franken along with several other politicians, many have found themselves in hot water due to allegations of sexual misconduct. It has appeared that more Democrats have been accused than Republicans, but the issue is certainly not specific to one party or another.
We saw the horrific outcome of these kinds of allegations yesterday when a Republican from Kentucky was found dead.
From Breaking 911:
The New York Daily News reported that the Kentucky state representative who was under investigation for allegedly having sexually molested a teenage girl killed himself on Wednesday evening.WDRV-TV reported that Republican State Representative Dan Johnson used a gun to kill himself on a bridge in Mount Washington. Kentucky Center for Investigative Reporting explained in an expose that was published on Monday that Representative Johnson was accused of having molested a 17-year-old female at a New Year’s Eve party back in 2012.
Allegations claim that Johnson forced himself on the young girl. According to the report, he put his hands up her shirt as well as down her pants.
Johnson left a Facebook post before he committed suicide:
Pretty intense if you ask me.
The Hill reported:
Johnson denied the allegations on Tuesday, according to the Louisville Courier-Journal. He said the accuser was a member of his church, and that the claims were, in part, politically motivated.
“This is an assault on all real people, there’s no perfect people and you get into office and all of sudden political hacks come against you and start accusing you after you’re in office,” he said, according to the Courier-Journal.
Johnson also acknowledged that he messaged the woman on Facebook in January 2013, saying that he did not remember what happened the night of the alleged encounter and that he had been “drugged” at a local bar.
